How to Keep Leather Furniture Looking New — Complete Care Guide

A quality leather sofa is a long-term investment — and with proper care, it should last 20-30 years. The difference between leather furniture that ages beautifully and leather that cracks and fades within five years almost always comes down to two things: what you use on it, and how often.

THE RIGHT PRODUCT FOR LEATHER FURNITURE:

For non-black leather furniture (the majority of leather sofas are tan, brown, gray, or cream): Use Leather Clear. It conditions and waterproofs without darkening or altering the color of your leather.

For black leather furniture: Use Leather Black.

HOW OFTEN:

Apply every 3-4 months for furniture in regular use. If you have pets, live in a dry climate, or keep your home very warm or air-conditioned, every 2-3 months will give better results.

PET SCRATCHES:

Surface scratches from cat or dog claws can be repaired with the Multi-Color Re-Dye & Repair Kit. For light scratching, gently buffing with a lanolin conditioner and allowing it to absorb will reduce the appearance of scratches significantly.
