What's in Doc Bailey's Products — Full Ingredient Transparency

At Doc Bailey's, we believe you should know exactly what you're putting on your leather. Here's what's in our formulas — and more importantly, what's not.

WHAT'S IN EVERY DOC BAILEY'S FORMULA:

Lanolin — The active conditioning agent. Pharmaceutical-grade lanolin derived from sheep's wool. Penetrates leather fiber to restore flexibility and moisture balance from the inside out. Used in leather care for centuries.

Protective waxes — A blend of natural waxes that form a breathable waterproof barrier on the leather surface. Unlike silicone, these waxes allow leather to breathe while repelling water.

Color-stable dyes (Leather Black and Multi-Color Kit only) — Professional-grade leather dyes that bond to leather fiber and resist fading and transfer. Same chemistry used by professional leather restoration shops.

Emulsifiers — Allow the water-based and oil-based components of the formula to remain stable and homogeneous. Plant-derived.

Water — Carrier for the formula components.

WHAT IS NEVER IN OUR FORMULA:

No silicone — Silicone coats leather pores and prevents deep conditioning. It creates a temporary shine that degrades leather long-term. We have never used silicone.

No petroleum distillates or mineral spirits — Harsh solvents that strip natural oils from leather and accelerate aging.

No formaldehyde or formaldehyde-releasing preservatives

No parabens

No bleach or oxidizing agents

WHY THIS MATTERS:

The leather care industry is largely unregulated. Many products use silicone because it's cheap and makes leather look great immediately — even as it damages the leather over months and years. Our formula was designed 35 years ago with one goal: to actually improve leather condition over time, not just make it look good in photos.
